Music Club

Randy Jackson

Music Club Volume One by Randy Jackson, of American Idol fame, got some friends together and made a fun cd. It opens with Dance Like There's No Tomorrow by Paula Abdul which is my favorite on the disc. Just Walk On By with Joss Stone adds a little R&B flare to the mix. What Am I So Afraid Of is a pop-rock tune by Trisha Covington, Keke Wyatt & Kiley Dean. Blues classic Wang Dang Doodle, written by Willie Dixon, is performed by Sam Moore, Keb' Mo' & Angie Stone. Home by John Rich (of Big & Rich) and Anthony Hamilton is ok but I perfer other versions like by Blake Shelton or especially by it's co-writer Michael Buble. (Written with Alan Chang and Amy Foster-Gillies). Real Love is another R&B sounding track by American Idol contestants Katharine McPhee and Elliott Yamin. Those are my favorite tracks.

I found five songs to be just o.k.: Who's Gonna Love You Now by Kelli Love sounds very pop, Something To Believe In by Van Hunt, Jon McLaughlin, and some guy named Jason Mraz (I'm Yours), My R&B by Barbi Esco where she lists her favorite R&B stars but she leaves out James Ingram and Jeffery Osborne. Willing To Try by Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, country star Travis Tritt and Lucy Woodward,  and finally have a little Church with the Gospel tune I Understand with Kim Burrell, Rance Allen, Bebe Winans, Mariah Carey, & Hezekiah Walker's Love Fellowship Tabernacle Church Choir.

Like A by Crunk Squad featuring Ghostface Killah is the only song I real didn't like. The singer sounded like had something in his mouth when he sang "Like A, like a" and the talk of cutting people and "hittin' it" is getting really old. I DJ for a lots of kids and they say they'd like to see artist get away from that....crap. I agree.

I look forward to Volume Two, just please leave out the Crunk.
