The Blues Brothers

Who were the Blues Brothers? A duo of comedians John Belushi (as "Jake Blues") and Dan Aykroyd (as"Elwood Blues"). Originally created for TV's Saturday Night Live. The Blues Brothers movie came out in 1980 and this is the soundtrack.

I thought this was a fairly entertaining CD. I liked the Peter Gunn Theme which is an instrumental. Gimme Some Lovin', with Jake on vocals, entered the Pop charts and climbed up to #18. Shake A Tailfeather with Ray Charles, Jake, and Elwood. A live vervion of Think by Aretha Franklin, I think she was on speed because this is much faster then the original. Minnie The Moocher by Cab Calloway and, at age 73, he still had the crowd eating out of his hands. Calloway is one of the all time greats. Jake and Elwood teamed their vocals on Sweet Home Chicago then Jake took over lead to end the album with Jailhouse Rock.

The songs I thought were ok were She Caught The Katy, Everybody Needs Somebody To Love, and Theme From Rawhide. Jake and Elwood sang on all of these. The Old Landmark by James Brown with the James Cleveland Choir is the only song I really didn't care much for. I'm not a big fan of choir music, but I love James Brown....aauuhhh...haa.
