Riptide
Robert Palmer
Robert Palmer's Riptide was just O.k. for me with the exceptions of Hyperactive (#33 in 1986), Addicted To Love (#1 in '86), and I Didn't Mean To Turn You On (#2 in '86). Trick Bag is o.k. but the monotone organ gets annoying. Get It Through Your Heart is a nice ballad with a slightly jazzy sound. With the song Flesh Wound Palmer cranks it back up a little, it never really does take off, if just kind of rev's. Discipline Of Love is just a typical 80's rock song. The title track "Riptide" and it's reprise were both pretty bad. When I hear them I picture a very sad clown walking in the rain carrying his dead monkey.
I like Robert Palmer but I would suggest his greatest hits collection. If you can find one that includes his hits with The Power Station that's even better.
