Into The Great Wide Open
Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers
I must admit right up front that I am not a real big Tom Petty Fan. The song Learning to Fly is the only Pop chart top 40 hit. It reached #28 in 1991. The title track Into The Great Wide Open still gets some radio play. Two Gunslingers has also proven to be popular. I like the songs that rock a little like Out In The Cold and Makin' Some Noise.
Petty is at his best when he's rockin' and not doing that mornful Dylan crap. You can really hear the influence of producer Jeff Lynne, formerly of the Electric Light Orchestra.
Other songs are: Kings Highway, The Dark Of The Sun, All Or Nothin', All The Wrong Reasons, Too Good To Be True, You And I Will Meet Again, and Built To Last.
